Featuring free property-wide WiFi, a spa centre and a seasonal outdoor pool, Matsushima Ichinobo offers accommodation in Matsushima. The ryokan has a hot spring bath and sauna, and guests can enjoy a drink at the bar. Free private parking is available on site. Everything is amazing. It is expensive, but you get what you pay. I recommend staying for at least 2 nights. I stayed for only one night, and I think I could have enjoyed more (like the gardens and the free rental bike service) if I had more time. Having said that,I thoroughly enjoyed my bedroom, the lounge, restaurant, the baths. The free all you can eat ice cream in the lounge was also a positive surprise.

Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and an en suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with an LCD TV and a fridge. The food was delicious, plentiful and allowed us to try traditional cuisine as well as some new foods we hadn't tried before. An open mind is required for some of the sashimi's. The futon beds were very comfortable and the bathing room was amazing. The hostesses were so friendly and helpful, we were travelling with our 10 month old and they all loved him and were understanding when he was loud at times. We would love to stay here again in the future. Knowing basic Japanese or using Google translate is highly recommended if visiting this accomodation.

Surrounded by sacred mountains and untouched nature, Tamonkan is housed in a historic Japanese-style building. Complimentary tea and snacks are served to welcome guests. Dewa Shrine is located an 8-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available in all areas. The owners are extremely lovely and accomodating. The food was superb and the building is magical. The small onsen tub was perfect for winding down after a hike up Mt Haguro.

The wooden structure of the property portrays a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby. Our stay at Takamiya Ryokan Miyamaso was one of our highlights of our honeymoon! The hotel is insanely charming and very well kept. You can see it's an old building but it doesn't look old or worn down. The staff are friendly and polite, and greet you by the door when you arrive and leave the hotel. They were also very accomodating to us when we asked to keep out futons out, as we wanted to take a nap during the day. Dinner and breakfast was amazing and a lovely experience, it was delicious and presented nicely and staff was attentive and friendly. Our suite was amazing, and we loved having our own private bath outside on a balcony overlooking a snowy hill.

Luggage storage service is available at the front desk and a gift shop and drinks vending machines can also be found on site. breakfast was amazing service amazing everything amazing i forgot to specify the fact that i don’t eat pork and i’m sorry for wasting a dish 😔

Great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful room with a stunning view over Matsushima bay. Make sure to get breakfast and dinner at the hotel as the food is amazing.

The property is situated 42 km from Motsuji Temple, 3.4 km from Kitakami Station and 15 km from Miyazawa Kenji Memorial Museum. Mizusawa-Esashi Station is 22 km away and Mizusawa Station is 22 km from the ryokan. I didn't take the breakfast, so I can't comment on it. Location was good for me since I wanted to walk everyday.
